Today, Saturday, July 18, 2020, Mr. Chad Yencer, Superintendent at Blackford County Schools was informed by Blackford Intermediate School Principal Dr.Kevin Biddle that he had tested positive for COVID-19. Dr Biddle shares “I have no symptoms at this time, and am following our procedures and health department guidance for a safe return.”

In accordance with Blackford County Schools COVID-19 Return to School Procedures for Students and Staff, the Blackford County Health Department has been contacted and the process of contact tracing has been implemented. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines a “close contact” as anyone within 6 feet of a confirmed case for more than 15 minutes, and all procedures and policies for those in close contact will be followed. Blackford Intermediate School will be closed to all until Tuesday, July 21st.

As always, BCS has the safety of our students and staff as a top priority. Our protocol, approved at the July 7, 2020 BCS Board of Trustees meeting, mandates that when we have been notified of a positive COVID-19 case for a student or staff member the building will be closed for 72 hours to deep clean and disinfect the entire facility.
