Come out and celebrate the holidays with the BJSHS Band!

Blackford Preschool Academy teachers Kiley Eppard and Bre Heine recently attended the Magic of Early Learning Conference in West Lafayette. The teachers met Sonia Cabell, author of Strive for Five Conversations, and an expert in early literacy instruction.

It was a big day for Colten Q during the BIS 6th grade fieldtrip to Ball State University today. During a visit to a BSU basketball game, he was selected to try and make a free throw! Talk about performing under pressure! Way to go, Colten!

How cool is this?
Cornerstone Community Church of the Nazarene in Montpelier gifted each BPS 1st grader with a scarf, gloves, and candy cane! (Look at those proud smiles!)
Thank you to everyone who made this possible for our students! ❤️ We appreciate you!

The BJSHS Lady Bruins Basketball program is doing a shoe drive fundraiser.
What this means is... we want all your unwanted shoes. Any kind, any size, etc.
The program will be collecting shoes beginning now through January.
Shoes collected will earn the program money for every pound collected.
For more information contact: Amy Sargent at ansargent@blackfordschools.org

The very kind folks from Cornerstone Community Church of the Nazarene in Montpelier gifted each of our BPS 1st graders with a scarf, gloves, and candy cane! (just in the St. Nick of time! It's cold out there!)
They generously do this every year and it is so appreciated! ❤️

Join us for a fun-filled night cheering on the Blackford Bruins!

Our BCS Preschool students would like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
How do you celebrate Thanksgiving in the BJSHS English/Language Arts (ELA Maintenance) class? By playing PIE in the face! But it’s not your typical pie, the "pie" stands for persuade, inform, entertain!
According to their teacher Shelby Capper, "After a week of learning about author’s purpose, students read short informative paragraphs and determined what the author’s purpose was to earn getting pied in the face! "
Great work, Bruins!

Happy Thanksgiving from Blackford County Schools!

Happy Thanksgiving!

As our Administrative Team continues its focus on making Blackford County Schools the best it can be, Assistant Superintendent David Parker and BCS principals took the show on the road with a presentation yesterday at the Indiana Principal's Association meeting in Indianapolis. Joining Parker were Jason Ridge, Jim Fox and Craig Campbell. During their presentation, the Admin team discussed BCS' effort of improving staff evaluation observations and professional development opportunities as two of the ways BCS helps teachers continue to improve their skills- which, in turn, improves student performance.

During Tuesday night's school board meeting, members of the BJSHS esports team were recognized for their accomplishments. Last school year, the team enjoyed a lot of success and their coach, Mrs. Jen Gallatin, hopes this season is much the same.
For the photos, the team was joined by 2024 BJSHS graduate and Manchester University freshman Darius "Dr. Stank" Osborn, who won a scholarship to Manchester University for his outstanding gaming abilities.
This year's team includes (from left) Christian "Mr. Man" McConnell, Zayne "John Heavyweight" Rodarmel, Bentley "SharkManiac9" Storer, Darius "Dr. Stank" Osborne, Isaac "ZOMBIE07REAPER" Sokolowski and Coach Gallatin.
Follow BJSHS EdTech on FB for the latest news and updates as the team travels to the Manchester University Spartan Showdown 2024 this weekend. Smash 'em, Bruins!

We have 2 teaching positions open at BJSHS. Please share and help us spread the word.

How do we make the lesson memorable? By making it fun! First grade students in Mrs. Rachael Story's class had to recognize and grab the correct blended sound before their partner. Talk about some quick thinking! Great job, Cubs!

The School Board approved the 2025-2026 BCS Calendar during last night's meeting.

The BCS School Board made it official during last night's meeting. Let's go, Bruins!
