Blackford Spotlight - Mrs. Aryn Enos' 3rd grade class at Blackford Intermediate School: "My class has been working hard on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) projects with a Christmas theme! On Monday, students built the biggest present package they could using only 2 pieces of paper and 18 inches of tape. On Tuesday, students created a gumdrop chimney with gumdrops and toothpicks. The challenge was to see who could make the tallest and sturdiest chimney to hold Santa. So much fun!" - Mrs. Enos Great job, Bears! 🎄🎅

The third grade students in Mrs. Reidy’s class have been busy little elves learning about authors and science. Our class has started an author study.. Our featured author is Patricia Polacco. We are reading her book, Thundercake while answering thin and thick questions about the story plus distinguishing personal point of view from that of the narrator or those of the characters. The students are so excited to learn about our author and trying to decide if Patricia is the one telling the story. Not only have we been readers and writers, we are also scientists.. What a great experience for these little scientists to dissect owl pellets. The students discovered rodent bones, then compared the skeleton of the rodent to the skeleton of a human bones. We do have a classroom of future authors and scientists!!
